Seth and I flew to Dana Point, CA on March 12th to see our friend Matt Welsh and family. Seth and Matt have been like brothers since they
were young. On January 31th, Matt was in a motorcycle accident with severe head injuries. He has since come out of his medicated coma and is continuing to heal. On our first night out to see Matt, he had his eyes open and mouthed "hi"! We also got to see him smile! All of this was very encouraging to us. For more information on Matt and updates on how he's doing go to Matt Welsh Blog. Our friends Matt Beckley and Debbie MacDonald (they're engaged!!) came to CA with us! We all got to spend time with the Welsh family and Matt's
fiance Meili. We stayed for 5 days.....
and while we really missed our boys, we knew they were happy and well cared for by Seth's parents. We got to spend time with Matt - talking to him and poking him trying to get him to respond. We also got to enjoy Dana Point's festival of Whales, an art show down on the wharf, Starbucks, a walk along Doheny beach, a little LA shopping (thanks to Meili), Thai This, amazing fruit drinks at Jamba Juice, church over in Temecula,
a bit warmer weather,
the Outback, tatonkas,
and a long airplane ride with
the cat lady! :)
